Abstract
1447881 Image recording coating TEIJIN Ltd 12 July 1973 [12 July 1972 17 July 1972 4 Sept 1972 25 Dec 1972 27 Dec 1972 4 May 1973] 33385/73 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions D2 and H4] In a facsimile receiver a direct image is reproduced on an electrically conductive coating formed on a base material by oxidising and/or reducing the coating which is transparent in a highly oxidised state and non-transparent in a state reduced to a greater degree than the highly oxidised state. The coating comprises solely an indium oxide, a tin oxide, a titanium oxide or a zirconium oxide or a mixture of two or more of these oxides. The coating of the base material may be effected by vacuum evaporation or sputtering of the oxide; or by formation of a layer of the metal by vacuum evaporation, supttering, plasma spraying, vapour-phase plating, chemical plating or electroplating followed by oxidation of the metal coating; or by a method involving the thermal decomposition of the metal chloride. The indium oxide coating preferably comprises a low oxide of indium i.e. In x O y where O
