Abstract
1448342 Cleaning head-lamp lenses ANDERSON CO 22 Feb 1974 [26 April 1973] 8277/74 Heading A4F A wiper system, particularly for cleaning a vehicle head-lamp lens, comprises a wiper arm 67 integral with a backing strip 68 carrying a wiper element 74, the arm 67 being mounted on spaced portions 64, 64a of a bifercated bracket 18 secured to a drive shaft 50, the portions 64, 64a being at different angular positions relative to the shaft 50 and means, such as motor 41 and gearing being provided for oscillating the shaft 50. The illustrated embodiment has two wiper arms and elements arranged for cleaning the lenses of twin head-lamps, the wiper arms 67 being mounted by a bolt 71 on a common bracket-tab 64 and each having an aperture 70 receiving a lug 65 on a bracket-leg 64a. Washing liquid is supplied through a flexible supply pipe 60 to nozzle openings 27, 28 in a nozzle 25 which oscillates with the drive shaft 50. Each wiping element 74 comprises wiping strips 74 hinged to a head portion 81 which is secured by projections 83 in slots 77 in a backing strip portion 68 of the wiper arm 67. A further embodiment comprises a wiper arm and blade assembly 120 Fig. 10 (not shown) arranged for cleaning a single head-lamp lens and provided with a nozzle (196) which discharges washing liquid always in front of the moving wiping strips 82 as these hinge to and fro.
