Abstract

145,784. Sachs, H. March 13, 1919, [Convention date]. Switches, quickbreak; handles. – A push-button-operated switch is latched in the closed position against the return action of a spring by a toggle device controlled bv an auxiliary push-button guided within the operating button and so arranged that the buttons alternately protrude according to the position of the contacts. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the main push-button 2 carrying the contacts 6 for engagement with the fixed contacts 8 is guided upon the hollow stud 3 secured to the switch base. An auxiliary push button 1 guided within the main button controls a pair of toggle links 9, 11 pivoted at its inner end. A spring 13 pressing the button outwardly tends to press the outer ends of the links through gaps in the guide-tube. When the main button is depressed against the action of the spring 12 into the contact position, a shoulder 14 passes the ends of the links, which are then free to pass through the gaps and retain the switch in the closed position. In this position, the main button remains depressed and the tripping button protrudes, and by pressing the tripping button the toggle locking links may be upset to release the switch, whereupon it again assumes the posi. tion shown.
