Abstract
1460125 Foamed isocyanurate polymers BASF WYANDOTTE CORP 11 Feb 1975 [25 Feb 1974] 5808/75 Headings C3C and C3R Foamed polymers containing isocyanurate linkages are made by condensing an organic polyisocyanate in the presence of a blowing agent, a catalytic amount of a tertiary trimerization catalyst and 0À1-10 parts by wt. (per 100 parts by wt. of the polyisocyanate) of a C 1-6 monohydric halogenated alkanol (as accelerator for the catalyst). The condensation may be carried out in the presence of a polyol. In the examples mixtures of 2,4- and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate and/or a polymethylene polyphenylisocyanate were foamed in the presence of as catalyst 1,3,5-tris(N,N-dimethylaminopropyl) – s – hexahydrotriazine or 2,4,6 – tris- (dimethylaminoethyl)phenol, as accelerator a trifluoro- or trichloro-ethanol, a hexafluoro-2- propanol or a dibromopropanol, and as blowing agent a trifluoro-trichloro-ethane or monofluorotrichloromethane and optionally a polyalkylsiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymer, dibutyltin dilaurate or diacetate and/or a polyol which is (a) the propylene oxide adduct of the Mannich condensation product of phenol, diethanolamine and formaldehyde or (b) a propylene oxide adduct of trimethylolpropane.
