Abstract
1461976 Furnace linings; shields BRUUN & SORENSEN AB 8 April 1974 [9 April 1973] 15517/74 Heading F4B A framework for a refractory shield or furnace lining comprises a plurality of H- shaped elements, opposed sides of one leg of each H having concave surfaces, and the opposed sides of the other leg having convex surfaces. The elements are assembled on their sides, Figs. 1 and 2, the upper limb 11 of each element having convex surfaces 14 and the lower limb 12 of each element having concave surfaces 14, and a concave limb 12 and a convex limb 11 of each of two adjacent elements fit between the convex upper limb and the lower concave limb of each element. The thickness of each convex limb perpendicular to the plane of the H is less than the distance between opposing concave surfaces in the assembled framework, so that a damaged element may be removed with those below without disturbing elements above. The curved surfaces may be tapered so that a curved wall may be formed, Fig. 3. The top of the framework is provided with hanger elements, Fig. 5, the upper limb 7 of the element being longer than the lower limb 8 and having a channel section projection 4 to hook over a supporting beam. The upper limb 7 and lower limb have concave surfaces 6 to co-operate with the upper limbs of the main framework. The lower edge of the framework is finished by bottom members, Fig. 8, with channel shaped extensions to the lower limb, and a convex upper limit 21. The bottom members are of two types, the H-shaped type of Fig. 8 alternating with a T-shaped type, Fig 10, with the base of the stem having a channel section extension 18
