Abstract

1467193 Fuel distributer for IC engines DEUTSCHE VERGASER GmbH & CO KG 17 Jan 1975 [18 Jan 1974] 2202/75 Heading F1B [Also in Division F2] A fuel distributer for controlling the flow of fuel to the individual cylinders of a multi-cylinder engine has a housing 11 with a cylindrical bore in which is fitted a pair of members 15, 20 with co-operating bores 18, 19, 23, 24 which direct fuel from a common inlet 12 to individual outlets 13, 14 for each cylinder. The member 20 is pressfitted into the cylindrical bore while the member 15 is rotated on a shaft 21 to a degree dependent upon engine load, the degree of overlap of the bores 18, 19, 23, 24 determining, by the sizes of the apertures formed between the members, the fuel feedrate to individual cylinders. The bores 18, 19, 23, 24 are preferably formed at the peripheries of members 15, 20 in a single cutting operation with both members held together, so that corresponding bores match exactly in shape. When the engine is idling the bores overlap to only a small extent, complete overlap being obtained at full load. The shape of the bores is such that from idling to the engine load wherein 1/ 3 of the maximum available cross-sectional area for fuel-flow is allowed by the overlap, the ratio of the total length 25, Fig. 3, of edges of the aperture formed by the overlap of each pair of bores to the diameter of the circle 26 of maximum diameter which can be included in that aperture does not exceed 6:1 or in other words, even at a low overlap, the aperture approximates to a circle in shape.
