Abstract
1479958 Determining α amylase E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 5 Sept 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 38885/74 Heading G1B Pancreatic α amylase is determined by reacting a non rate limiting amount of malto tetraose or malto pantaose with a measured amount of sample under test and determining the rate or amount of glucose production at constant temperature and pH. The rate or amount of glucose may be determined by the use of a reagent, e.g. an enzyme containing reagent, which gives a measurable response. Maltase, in non rate limiting amount, may be included in the reaction mixture, and the total, i.e. pancreatic plus salivary, α amylase thereby determined. A kit for the determination may comprise malto tetraose or malto pentraose and a resistable reagent, and possibly maltase; and the kit may be supplied in one or more chambers of a multi chambered plastics container, one of which chambers is a reaction chamber into which can be introduced a sample, and which can be communicated with the or each of the other chambers.
