Abstract
1481759 Dewaxing oils EDELEANU GmbH 11 Nov 1975 [26 Nov 1974] 46562/75 Heading C5E In a process for dewaxing a mineral oil in the presence of a solvent which is recycled, a portion of the solvent is recovered from the dewaxed oil and from the wax by steam stripping and the mineral oil feed and the moist steamstripped portion of the solvent are dried in admixture by azeotropic distillation prior to entering the dewaxing stage. The dewaxing can be achieved either by cooling to precipitate wax or by the formation of adducts with urea. The major portions (up to 95%) of the solvent in the dewaxed oil stream 1 and in the separated wax stream 2 are removed in indirectly heated evaporator columns 3 and 4 and 9 and 10 respectively. The solvent-depleted streams are then stripped with steam in columns 12 and 13 and the steam-laden solvent residues are combined and condensed at 17 to produce aqueous and solvent phases in the separator 19. The moist solvent phase 26 is dried at 27 together with the oil feed 27 by azeotropic distillation. The overhead 32 comprising solvent and water is condensed at 33 and the dried solvent and oil stream 29 is passed, together with a portion 35 of the dry solvent from collector 8 to the dewaxing stage. The aqueous phase 20 from the separator 19 is freed from solvent at 21 by injection of steam and discharged at 22.
