Abstract
1487367 Method of preventing and eliminating deformations of a pipe HEIDEMAATSCHAPPIJ BEHEER NV 11 Oct 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 44275/74 Heading F2P [Also in Division B3] A device for locally preventing deformations of a pipe-line comprises at least two ring segments which are interconnected by tension elements via radially outwardly extending extensions of the ring segments. In a first embodiment, Fig. 2, the segments are stiffened by radial flanges 4, and are provided radiallyinwardly with a layer of rubber 12 between two thin layers of a friction-reducing material, particularly P.T.F.E. In a second embodiment, Figs. 5, 6, the segments are substantially I- shaped in cross-section and the space between the central rib 27, the edge flanges 29, and the pipe, houses a block of rubber 32; bolts 30, extending through one of the edge flanges 29 co-operate with a pressing member 31 such that radial pressure can be exerted on the pipe via the rubber block by adjustment of the bolts. In another similar embodiment, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown). The device has three segments and is provided with sheets of P.T.F.E., between the segments and the pipe. A yet further embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), has two segments each extending over a peripheral angle of the order of 30 degrees and has bridge members (19, 20), Fig. 4 (not shown), secured to the segments.
