Abstract
1487958 Pneumatic tyres UNIROYAL AG 17 Dec 1974 [19 Dec 1973] 54387/74 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre having a radial ply carcass comprises a tread which includes a circumferentially continuous, unbroken, rib 14, 15, at each edge, a plurality of blocks 16, 17 integral with, and extending axially inwardly from, each rib, and two circumferentially continuous grooves 10, 11 which in part define the axially inner peripheries of the blocks. The width B is not more than 0À6 L and each rib has a width b 1 of not more than 0À1 L. A breaker 4 is so arranged that its edges each lie directly beneath a respective rib. As illustrated transverse grooves 12, 13 defining the side walls of the blocks are parallel to the tyre axis, and the central portion of the tread comprises two circumferentially continuous ribs 18, 19. Alternative arrangements (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) comprise grooves oblique to the tyre axis defining the sidewalls of the blocks and blocks in the central portion separated by transverse grooves (23) or cuts (40). The Specification gives values for the ratio t : 1.
