Abstract
1501448 Valves SIEMENS AG 22 Aug 1975 [12 Sept 1974] 35057/75 Heading F2V In dental equipment a valve 21 tilts under gravity to permit fluid flow when a rigid arm 9 pivots about axis 7 on moving a hand-piece 10 from a rest position on a cradle 12 to an operative position. The valve is pivotally mounted about axis 22 on a mount 21 which is fixed to a tubular support 6 on a pillar 4 that rotates about a vertical axis 14. The arm 9 is connected to and supports the supply pipe 11 to the handpiece and normally abuts the valve to hold it in closed position. The valve member is a loose ball 27 (or piston) which rolls from a position closing a seat 29 between an inlet 31 and an outlet 30 to one abutting a wall 32 when the valve pivots. A pair of valves may be mounted in a common frame, which is pivotally mounted to simultaneously control flow to two handpieces. Flow can thus only take place to a handpiece when it is in an operative position.
