Abstract

1506352 Data transmission MOTOROLA Inc 2 Sept 1976 [3 Nov 1975] 36426/76 Heading H4P A detection arrangement for DPSK signals includes first and second phase detectors 12, 14 which multiply the received signal at input 10 with quadrature reference waves derived from an oscillator 16. Each detector is connected to a respective matched filter 18 or 22 which integrates and samples the signal, the samples being applied to a multiplier 20 or 24 both directly and through a one bit delay circuit 19 or 23. The output signals from the two multipliers 20 and 24 are summed and quantized to two levels at 26 to provide the digital output at 28. Details of the control circuits associated with the reference oscillator 16, and with the bit synchronization oscillator 21 associated with the filters 18 and 22, are described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown), whilst a detection arrangement suitable for quaternary modulation is described with reference to Fig. 4 (not shown).
