Abstract

1511977 Air rectification LINDE AG 3 Nov 1976 [19 Dec 1975] 45637/76 Heading F4P In a two-stage air rectification, cleaned compressed feed air, prior to cooling in reversing exchangers 1, 11 or regenerators, is divided into two portions at 7, one portion being further compressed at 5, cooled and at least partly liquefied at 4 in heat exchange with vaporizing liquid oxygen product withdrawn from the 1.p. stage 3 of column 2, 3, and fed to the column. The compressor 5 is driven by a gas stream expanding in turbine 6 after withdrawal from h.p. stage 2 and warming in exchangers 1, 11. After expansion the gas stream may befed into 1.p. stage 2, Fig. 2 (not shown). The further compressed portion of the feed air stream may be additionally cleaned by passage through a molecular sieve (17) prior to cooling.
