Abstract
1516361 Heating catalyst tubes STONE & WEBSTER ENG CORP 26 March 1975 [9 April 1974] 12721/75 Heading B1F [Also in Divisions C5 and F4] A furnace suitable for use in catalytic or non-catalytic cracking processes comprises process tubes 24 suspended in a hot gas convection section heated by a burner assembly disposed in a combustion section 8, the process tubes being protected from the radiant heat of the burner by a refractory shield 58; the process tubes are suspended by a tube sheet 22 which is sealed by a section 32 to the furnace wall, and a centrally disposed effluent tube 26 passing through and attached to the tube sheet is in communication with the outlet sections 48 of the process tubes. The furnace wall is provided with insulating jackets 10 spaced to define chambers 12 through which a purge gas may be passed from inlets 20. Specification 1516362 describes a catalytic reforming process using the furnace of the present invention.
