Abstract
1525342 Centrifugal pumps; turbines AN WALTON-BOTT 14 Feb 1977 [12 Feb 1976 18 Feb 1976] 05597/76 and 06388/76 Headings F1C and F1T In a pumping device, a rotor comprises a turbine the blades E of which are fast with impeller blades F of a centrifugal pump, part of the working liquid e.g. seawater, which is fed under pressure, driving the turbine and subsequently discharging via a pipe H, and the remaining liquid being pumped by impeller blades F to a higher level. The turbine and pump are connected by a cylindrical wall C which is connected to the pump housing via a labyrinth seal O. Stator vanes may be located in the inlet of the turbine and/or the pump, and some of those in the pump inlet may be adjustable. The drive, which is via a shaft J, may be regulated by speed regulation equipment K, and oil is supplied to the rotor bearings B1, B2 via an oil duct G.
