1525396 Cathode constructions PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 Oct 1975 [19 Oct 1974] 42448/75 Heading H1D To reduce grid current in a grid controlled electron tube, a sintered impregnated or dispenser cathode 1 includes areas 2 of reduced emissivity which project from the emitting surface; the areas coincide with the grid and have a focusing effect. The areas are formed by fusion using an electron, ion or laser beam. The focusing effect may be increased by removing material from the emitting areas 3a by spark erosion or photoetching; the projections are subsequently repassivated. The projections may be formed before sintering. Triodes, tetrodes, klystrons and travelling wave tubes are referred to.
