Abstract
1529042 Telephone drop wire GENERAL CABLE CORP 4 Feb 1977 [20 Feb 1976] 04631/77 Heading H1A [Also in Division B5] A unipass telephone drop wire comprises conductors covered by insulation comprising a semi-crystalline low M.W. ethylene propylene diene terpolymer having a filler level below 110 parts per 100 parts of polymer but above 47 parts to strengthen the insulation. The conductors are preferably coated with adhesive before being covered in an extruder and fed to a vulcanizer to cure and cross-link the terpolymer. Clay and low density polyethylene may be added to the polymer, as may flame-retardants such as Sb oxide and chlorine compounds.
