Abstract

1529175 Transistor circuits ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 14 June 1977 [18 June 1976] 24719/77 Heading H3T A bipolar monolithic integrated push pull power output stage for digital signals substantially as shown has first 1 and second 2 transistors of the same polarity in series between supply U B and earth with their emitter-collector paths joined by an amplifying device 3, also of the same polarity, having multiple emitters 31, 32; one 31 being connected both to the collector of transistor 2 and to the base of transistor 1. The bases of 2 and 3 are separately connected to the supply either by resistors or by constant current sources 6, 7. When transistor 2 is turned off the multiemitter transistor acts in the inverse sense with 31 as collector and 33 as emitter and tends to take the base current away from transistor 1. To prevent this the two emitters are dimensioned so that the area of the second 32 is at least twice, preferably four to five times, the area of the first 31. This gives an inverse current of about 0-1 and reduces the current bypassing. It is stated that the amplifier could be used to amplify linear signals such as those in audio amplifiers.
