Abstract
1529431 Container traffic container H DALE 4 Dec 1975 [6 Sept 1974] 39098/74 Heading B8Q [Also in Division B7] An auxiliary load-carrying platform 5 is adapted to be supported on a main load-carrying platform 3 of a vehicle 4 by collapsible legs 7 which are pivotally mounted on the platform 5 and lockable on to the main platform 3 in either an erected position as in Fig. 3, to provide two load-carrying surfaces, or a collapsed position as in Fig. 2, where the legs 7 are generally parallel the platform 5 which rests on the main platform 3. In order to effect collapse or erection of the legs 7, a fork lift truck may engage in apertures 20 in cross-members 19 of the platform 5 to raise or lower the platform as necessary, and alternatively to move the auxiliary platform 5 to a free-standing position off the vehicle 4. The legs 7 are lockable in each of their positions relative to the platform 5 by spring- biased pin members which may, for example, be carried by the legs 7 to engage selected apertures in the platform 5. Locking of the legs 7 on to the platform 3 is effected by conventional twist lock devices T engaging an aperture provided at either end of each leg. The legs 7 are braced in their erected position by members 14, in which position an extension 17 at the forward end of platform 5 is pivotally lowered. A plurality of auxiliary platforms 5 may be arranged end-to-end on the main platform 3.
