00 3420/76 ( 32) Filed 10 May 1976 in 00 ( 33) Austria (AT) t) ( 44) Complete Specification published 11 June 1980 ( 51) INT CL 3 B 29 C 1/06 // B 29 F 1/00 ( 52) Index at acceptance B 5 A 1 R 314 C 3 1 R 4272 E 102 E 4 X 2 K 23 D 11 A 3 D 11 X T 14 N ( 54) INJECTION MOULDING INSTALLATION ( 71) We, POLYAIR MASCHINENBAU G.M B H, an Austrian Company, of Kittsee, Chicago 5, Burgenland, Austria, do hereby declare the invention for which we pray that a patent may be granted to us, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement:-
This invention relates to an injection moulding installation of the kind, (hereinafter referred to as the kind set forth) for producing footwear, comprising a core in the form of a last, a core carrier for mounting the core and adapted to effect relative movement between the core and a mould, said mould being adapted to be opened and closed, respectively, and provided with a bottom punch, the mould being adapted for connection with an injection head.
Injection moulidng installations of the kind set forth are known in which a plurality of moulds, each having a bottom punch and a mould core, are associated with an injection head, the mould core being constructed in special cases as a last connected to a mould core carrier, by which the last can be introduced into and removed from the mould Each mould core is, therefore, associated with its own mould core carrier Installations of this kind are constructed either in the form of moulding lines, along which the injection head can be moved and connected to the individual moulds, or is made of a round table installation in which the moulds are mounted on a rotatable round table and moved in steps past the fixed injection head.
According to the present invention we provide an injection moulding installation of the kind set forth wherein one single core carrier is associated with a plurality of moulds mounted in a common mould carrier.
The mould carrier may take the form of a round table on which the moulds are disposed in stellar arrangement Alternatively, the mould carrier may take the form of a long table on which the moulds are disposed one beside the other Advantageously the core carrier is adapted to be raised and 50 lowered substantially vertically Also advantageously, the core carrier is mounted to pivot in a substantially vertical plane Preferably the core carrier has a senser which controls the lowering of the core carrier to 55 the moulds.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described in greater detail with reference to the figures of the accompanying drawing in which: 60 Figure 1 is a plan view seen from above of an injection moulding installation of the kind set forth having a round table, and Figure 2 is a sectional elevation, taken on the section station II-II in Figure 1 65 Referring now to the figures of the drawings, an injection moulding installation for the manufacture of footwear has a number of moulds 1 disposed on a mould carrier 2 which takes the form of a round table 70 and can rotate around a vertical axis XX 1.
The mould carrier 2 can be moved step by step, using a stepping drive 3, by an angle corresponding to the distance between the moulds 75 The moulds 1 which, in the embodiment illustrated, can each be opened and closed by means of a linkage 4 and a working cylinder 5 and have a bottom punch (not shown) are associated with a fixed injection 80 head 6 to which one of the moulds 1 can be connected at a time.
Structurally connected to a frame 11 is a single core carrier 7 to which a mould core 8 taking the form of a last is connec 85 ted very releasably and interchangeably.
The core carrier 7 can be raised and lowered in the vertical direction, the mould core 8 being vertically introducible downwards into the required mould 1, or re 90 1 568 882 ( 19 1 568 882 moved upwards out of the mould 1 Alternatively the core carrier 7 can be mounted to pivot in a vertical plane extending substantially through the axis of the mould carrier 2.
Mould core 8 might be lowered every time by a predetermined distance from the top end position, but it is preferable to dispose the mould core 8 at a selectable distance from the bottom or bottom punch of the mould 1, to which end a senser 9 is provided which can be mounted with the core carrier 7 and co-operate with a stop surface on the mould 1 or mould carrier 2 to maintain the aforementioned distance, and is connected to the control system of the core carrier 7.
The invention, therefore, economises a considerable number of core carriers in comparison with conventional installations The invention also eliminates the associated control devices for the core carriers, the assembly and maintenance of which are substantially reduced, as also is the reliability of the whole installation increased.
Claims (4)
WHAT WE CLAIM IS:-
1 An injection moulding installation, of the kind set forth, wherein one single core carrier is associated with a plurality of of moulds mounted on a common mould carrier.
2 The injection moulding installation according to claim 1 wherein the mould carrier takes the form of a round table on 35 which the moulds are disposed in stellar arrangement.
3 The injection moulding installation according to claim 1 wherein the mould carrier takes the form of a long table on which 40 the moulds are disposed one beside the other.
4 The injection moulding installation according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the core carrier is adapted to be 45 raised and lowered substantially vertically.
The injection moulding installation according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the core is mounted to pivot in a substantially vertical plane 50 6 The injection moulding installation according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the core carrier has a sensor which controls the lowering of the core carrier to the moulds 55 7 An injection moulding installation constructed and arranged substantially as herein described and shown in the figures of the accompanying drawings.
