11,521. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., Pearce, H., Parker, T. R. G., and Wright, F. W. May 15. Printing – surfaces; blankets. – Relates to means for securing flexible printing plates or sheets to the cylinders of printing-machines, and consists in the provision of a detachable mounting-block having attached thereto the platestraining-clamps or stretching-devices. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 5, one edge of the block 1 has secured to it by bolts 2 a series of trunnion-blocks 3 which form bearings for the clamps 5. Bolts 12, abutting against the edge of the block 1, serve to rock the clamps on the trunnions 4 to strain the sheet 10. At the other edge, the clamps are shown with cylindrical seatings 19, and arms 20 extending beneath the block 1. Passing through the arm 20 is a bolt 21 carrying a nut 22 by which the sheet is strained. The jaws 6 of the clamps are gripped on to the edges of the sheet by bolts 8. The block 1 is secured to the cylinder by clamps held in dovetail grooves which take over the curved edges of the block. In a modification specially for holding a rubber offset blanket, the block is furnished with reel rods held by ratchet gear.
