Abstract
A soil cultivating implement comprises a row of rotary soil working members (5) that extends substantially horizontally perpendicular to the intended direction of operative travel (A) of the implement, wherein winding of weeds and other elongate material around the shafts (7) which embody the axes of rotation (b) of the soil working members (5) is prevented by fastening screening members (40) to the bottom of a hollow frame portion (1) of the implement and forming each screening member (40) with a plurality of downwardly bent-over scrapers (41) each of which is located in close proximity to a lowermost part (8) of one of said shafts (7). The elongate frame portion (1) is provided with a plurality of reinforcing partitions (24) that extend substantially parallel to the intended direction of travel (A). A gear box (31) containing transmission parts (35, 38, 39) for driving the soil working members (5), one of said shafts (7, 27), a toothed pinion (17) mounted on that shaft and the corresponding soil working member (5) itself are unitarily constructed so as to be capable of installation in, or removal from, the frame portion (1) as a single unit.
